From the Message translations Proverbs 4:

Sell everything and buy Wisdom! Forage for Understanding!

Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom!

Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding!

This verse reminded me of Ps Jeffrey Rachmat's story when he attended Hillsong Conference in Sydney, Australia, for the first time. He was amazed by the speakers' wisdom and, at the same time, shocked with the material's price. He knew that if want the wisdom to build JPCC, he needed to learn from them and buy the materials. He was nervous when he asked permission from his wife, Angel. Is it okay if he wants to buy these materials? Because he will spend around $1000AUS to purchase books and other materials. It is almost the same amount of budget that they have. This means that they can't go anywhere during their trip. Just stay at the hotel and conference.

Okay, let me repeat. He is willing to spend 1000 dollars to buy a book and other materials!

We know-hows history is. How wise Pastor Jeffrey become. He is the founder and senior pastor of JPCC. His impact and influence are not only for the local church in Jakarta. But also worldwide.

I'm not saying we need to be like Ko Jeff because everyone has different capacities, seasons, and financial priorities.

Maybe some of you are wondering. Why should we pay a lot in this information - internet era like now? Podcast, Youtube, Instagram, Tik-Tok, blog, etc. There's so much FREE wisdom everywhere.

That's true. You can get wisdom everywhere. But mostly, the free things are only the highlight or a teaser of that wisdom. And even though you got it for free, it doesn't mean it didn't cost you time. Nothing is free.

The truth is if you want to get deeper wisdom and deeper understanding, it will cost you a deep pocket. In other words, it's EXPENSIVE!

Books, conference, training, a masterclass is costly!

The questions are:

How much budget and time are you investing (intentionally) in getting wisdom?

Your input determines your output.

So, what do you put in?
